Abstract	Rad započinje samim uvodom u teoriju novca, njegov razvoj i porijeklo te funkcije novca. U nastavku su obrađene monetarne teorije i njihove značajke. Zatim slijedi osvrt na hrvatski bankarski sustav i investicijske fondove od 2008.do 2015. te je objašnjena bilančna recesija te utjecaj iste na štednju stanovništva u Republici Hrvatskoj od 2008.do 2013.godine. Na kraju je zaključeno da se RH nalazila u bilančnoj recesiji do 2013. te da država treba nadomjestiti manjak agregatne potrošnje do kojeg je došlo zbog razduživanja i štednje privatnog sektora.
