Abstract
Sigurnost u cestovnom prometu definira se kao metoda kojoj je temeljni cilj sigurnost i zaštita svih sudionika u prometu. Cilj zaštite prometa je sprječavanje i smanjivanje nastanka prometnih nesreća i ozljeda u prometu zbog kojih dolazi do fizičkih i psihičkih oštećenja. Stanje kolnika uvelike utječe na sigurnost prometa jer ukoliko je kolnik mokar, onečišćen, blatan, neravan, prekriven snijegom ili ledom dolazi do lošeg prianjanja kotača vozila i kolnika te slijedi proklizavanje vozila. Kada je kolnik prekriven snijegom ili ledom nastupaju zimski uvjeti na cesti. Vozila koja prometuju u zimskim uvjetima, odnosno u razdoblju od 15.11 tekuće godine do 15.04. iduće godine moraju imati propisanu zimsku opremu. Navedena oprema, uz adekvatnu prometnu signalizaciju i održavanje cesta, osigurava da se tijekom loših vremenskih uvjeta promet odvija na siguran način.
