Abstract
Motivacija je jedna od temeljnih funkcija upravljanja čovjekovim ponašanjem. Za visoku razinu ljudske izvedbe, uz nju su potrebni i znanje i sposobnost. Motivacija je zapravo individualna, na neke ljude više utječe unutarnja motivacija, dok na druge djeluje vanjska motivacija. Bavljenje sportom i uspjeh u njemu, osim o nasljednim faktorima, u velikoj mjeri ovisi o motivaciji. Motivacija u sportu dolazi do izražaja već pri samom opredjeljenju za bavljenje sportom, kao i kroz ustrajnost, upornost i odgovornost koju sportaši pokazuju kroz svoju aktivnost. U onoj mjeri u kojoj sportska aktivnost osigurava uvjete za zadovoljenje motiva, biti će osigurana participacija u sportu. U skladu s teorijom koja zaključuje da motivacijsku klimu determinira međudjelovanje okolinskih faktora i interpersonalnih, u ovome radu istražuje se motivacija u profesionalnom sportu, konkretno u Vaterpolo klubu ”Primorje”.
