Abstract
S obzirom na to da je sigurnost željezničkog prometa jedno od njegovih najvažnijih obilježja, ali i zahtjeva, potrebno je stalno analizirati i unaprjeđivati sve utjecajne elemente. U ovom radu razmatra se problematika „trećih“ osoba kao čimbenika sigurnosti željezničkog prometa. Provedenom analizom utvrđeno je da su treće osobe uzrok 95 % svih ozbiljnih nesreća na mreži pruga Hrvatskih željeznica te, u cilju povećanja stupnja sigurnosti, posebnu pozornost treba posvetiti upravo njima. Podrobnijom analizom pojedinih ugroženih skupina definirane su i predložene mjere za smanjenje broja izvanrednih događaja koje uzrokuju i u kojima stradavaju treće osobe u smislu intenzivnije edukacije, kvalitetnijeg informiranja, bolje kontrola te poboljšanja tehničkih elemenata infrastrukture i željezničkih vozila.
