Abstract
U radu se opisuje povijesni razvoj električnih automobila te njihovi osnovni elementi. Analizirane su prednosti njihove uporabe. Ekološki aspekti korištenja električnih automobila, neovisnost o nafti te smanjena potrošnja energije najveće su prednosti korištenja takvih vozila. Povećanje proizvodnje i obujam prometa negativno djeluju na okoliš i prirodne resurse. Unatoč pozitivnim stranama korištenja električnih automobila imaju i nedostatke zbog veće cjenovne potrošnje od konvencionalnih automobila kao i limitiranost baterije. Uspoređuju se električni i konvencionalni automobili te se govori o hibridnim automobilima i njihovim pogonskim sustavima. Sve je veći interes za električnim automobilima i uz stalni napredak i njihovu učinkovitost u budućnosti električni automobili mogli bi konkurirati konvencionalnim automobilima.
